The Bioeconomy Cluster Builder (BCB) project is a joint enterprise between IBioIC, the Knowledge Transfer Network, and Scottish Enterprise to introduce biotechnology solutions to new markets and grow the bioeconomy in Scotland.

The BCB project will help companies outside of the current bioeconomy community understand and engage with biotechnology applications and bio-based products to improve sustainability, increase efficiency and improve product performance.

It will do this through a structure of network development activities, events, and project and bid opportunities.

How we can help companies find the right biotechnology solution

Network development

We will evaluate business needs and use our combined expertise and extensive networks to put businesses in touch with appropriate solution providers.

Our programme uses small, targeted workshops, round-tables and 1-1 engagements along with KTN’s innovation canvas to identify the barriers and gaps to be addressed and support companies to engage with innovative bioeconomy concepts.

Project and Bid Opportunities

  1. We will Identify collaborative project opportunities such as single or collaborative research & development. IBioIC, through its membership and collaborative project programme, have experience in identifying collaborative opportunities and project partner match making. A KTN core activity is supporting businesses with finding partners and funding for collaborative projects.
  2. Inform businesses of relevant IB bid opportunities.
  3. Signpost companies to further support channels where relevant e.g. Account Managers, SMAS, SE Products and services, Innovation and sustainability interventions, IBioIC and Innovate UK.

IBioIC is a cluster member of BIC and as such has early visibility of upcoming Calls from BBI and can participate in project partner matchmaking and networking.
