Dr Alan Kennedy, Diageo Alan Kennedy is Science & Technology Director at the Diageo International Supply Technical Centre in Menstrie, Scotland, a role he has held for the last 6 years. In this role he leads teams responsible for whisky blending, development & commercialisation of other spirits (gin, vodka, etc), process development (with a focus on efficiency & sustainability), wood & cask science research and analytical method development. Prior to his current role, Alan worked in the brewing industry for over 19 years with Diageo (Guinness) in Ireland & Africa, AB InBev in Belgium and Scottish & Newcastle Breweries in the UK holding a number of technical and quality roles. Alan is a member of the Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) Scientific Committee, Scotch Whisky Research Institute (SWRI) Research Management Committee and was Chair of the Organising Committee for the Worldwide Distilled Spirits Conference in 2017. He is also a member of the IBioIC Industrial Advisory Board. He has a BSc (Hons) in Applied Microbiology and PhD in Pharmaceutical Microbiology, both from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow.
