This workshop aims to address how engineering biology can be used to probe questions in fundamental biology and tackle industrial challenges within HVB scope. The Network is also keen to engage with UK Synthetic Biology Research Centres, bio-foundries, scale-up centres, industry, funding bodies and government departments as part of this event to explore ongoing developments, challenges and future prospects in this field.
The workshop will be held online on 26th (13:00-17:00) and 27th May 2021 (9:30-13:00) and the format will include presentations from invited speakers, a panel discussion and opportunities for HVB members to give short talks. Workshop sessions have been devised based on advice and suggestions from an advisory panel comprising HVB members: Paul Fraser, Lorena Fernández-Martínez, Rory Miles, Nicola Patron, Guy Polturak, Leonardo Rios Solis, Anna Sobolewska-Stawiarz, Stephen Wallace and Kavita Yadav.

Call for abstracts: If you would like to give a short talk (10 minutes presentation) on technologies and research infrastructure for engineering biology; application of AI, machine learning and chemoinformatics to engineering biology; innovation and commercialisation through engineering biology or any other area related to engineering biology, please include a title and abstract (maximum 150 words) in the registration form.
Deadline for abstract submission is Monday, 10th May 2021, 10 AM. Successful speakers will be notified by Tuesday 11th May 2021.

Proof of concept (PoC) call linked to HVB workshop
A PoC call is linked to this workshop. This funding call will be focussed on engineering biology within the High Value Biorenewables scope. We hope that associating a funding call to the workshop will enable the Network to make tangible progress on some of the challenges identified.
