Liz Fletcher

Liz joined IBioiC in March 2021 as Director of Business Engagement and Operations, managing the day-to-day operational aspects of IBioIC. She is now Impact Director and deputy CEO, shaping the Innovation Centre’s strategy, helping to deliver its key aims of building new opportunities and accelerating commercialisation. 

Liz has had a varied career across the life sciences and biotechnology sectors from research roles in academia (Sydney, Toronto and Cambridge, UK) and the biotech industry. She then spent 6 years as a science and business writer and editor (Financial Times and Nature Biotechnology) before venturing into technology transfer (University of Southampton). She moved to Scotland to work for ITI Lifesciences as a technology and market analyst, transferring to Scottish Enterprise as an analyst in the life sciences sector team. Liz enjoyed managing the University of Edinburgh’s engineered biology research centres for over 7 years. 

Liz graduated with a degree in Pharmacology from the University of Bristol and a PhD in Neuropharmacology from the University of London. She has a Diploma in Science Communication and is a qualified counsellor.  

She enjoys running, walking, travel and gardening, and her crazy spaniel.
