About Carbogenics

Carbogenics is a science-driven cleantech company transforming hard-to-recycle organic wastes into high-value biochar materials that enhance industrial bioprocesses and enable circular, low-carbon solutions.

Their technologies support sectors including anaerobic digestion (AD), wastewater treatment (WWT), agriculture, and sustainable construction. Building on the success of their established biochar platforms, they are actively developing new and improved biochar materials to address key environmental and operational challenges.

As they expand their laboratory and product development activities, they are seeking a Junior Scientist / Laboratory Technician to support their R&D programmes and day-to-day lab operations.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing cleantech company at the forefront of sustainable carbon innovation.

The successful candidate will support laboratory-based research, product development, and analytical activities under the supervision of the Head of R&D and Lab Manager. The role combines hands-on experimental work with data handling and general laboratory coordination.

The position would suit someone with strong foundational laboratory training who is looking to build experience in applied industrial R&D within the environmental or materials sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support laboratory-scale testing of new and improved biochar platforms

  • Assist in experimental setup, monitoring, and data collection for projects related to anaerobic digestion and wastewater treatment

  • Conduct routine physical and chemical analyses of materials and process samples

  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and assist with data analysis and reporting

  • Prepare samples for internal and external analytical testing

  • Support pilot or demonstration-scale trials through laboratory-based analysis

  • Contribute to maintaining laboratory organisation, consumables inventory, and equipment upkeep

  • Ensure compliance with laboratory health and safety procedures

The exact balance of responsibilities may evolve as projects develop.
