Project calls open each October for the following academic year. Applications are open to any Scottish higher education institution and must include a named industry partner. All projects are independently reviewed by at least two reviewers and awarded on a competitive basis. Successful projects must be advertised openly to support a diverse applicant pool.

Yes. Every project must have at least one industry partner, and the research must demonstrate a clearly defined benefit to that company and to the wider biotechnology ecosystem. The industry supervisor participates in regular meetings with the student and the full supervisory team throughout the project.

All IBioIC studentships include a minimum of three months based with your industry partner. Your industry-based supervisor will be actively involved in regular supervisory meetings alongside your academic team, giving you genuine exposure to commercial R&D environments and professional networks from early in your studies.
