Applied Skills in Mammalian Cell Bioprocessing (3 Days)

View/Download Course Leaflet (PDF)

This 3-day hands-on training course is designed for individuals seeking to build core competencies in the cultivation and handling of mammalian cell lines within a controlled bioprocessing environment. Blending classroom-based theory with practical lab sessions, the course offers detailed exposure to the essential techniques and challenges associated with mammalian cell culture in bioreactors up to 1.5 L scale.

Participants will gain experience in cell line maintenance, media preparation, aseptic technique, and bioreactor operation—including inoculation, parameter control, viability monitoring, and contamination prevention. This training provides a strong foundation in mammalian bioprocessing, equipping attendees with the skills necessary for application in a biomanufacturing context. A certificate of completion will be awarded upon successful participation.

Learning outcomes

  • Develop practical skills in aseptic technique, media preparation, and the cultivation of mammalian cell lines.

  • Operate bench-scale bioreactors (up to 1.5 L) for mammalian cell culture, including setup, inoculation, parameter control, and harvesting.

  • Understand core biological and engineering principles of mammalian bioprocessing, including cell growth kinetics, viability, and productivity.

  • Learn to monitor and optimise critical process parameters and apply contamination control strategies to maintain product quality.

Who will benefit?

  • Scientists, technicians, graduates, and professionals entering or developing their roles in mammalian cell culture.

  • Individuals looking to gain practical experience and theoretical knowledge relevant to biomanufacturing involving mammalian systems.
