About the event

Hosted by IBioIC, The James Hutton Institute and BioDundee, this event will bring together industry and academic experts to explore how sustainable agri-tech can support the transition from petrochemical-derived products towards bio-based chemicals and materials.

Speakers will showcase emerging technologies, research and real-world applications that use agricultural feedstocks, residues and other bio-based resources to create more sustainable chemical products and processes.

The programme will also highlight the support organisations, innovation opportunities and funding routes available to help move promising ideas from research through to commercial application.

With opportunities for discussion and networking throughout the event, attendees will have the chance to connect with others across agriculture, biotechnology and the chemicals sector, share knowledge and explore potential collaborations.

The event aims to help accelerate the development and adoption of sustainable, bio-based alternatives to petrochemicals.

15:00 - 15:30 - James Hutton Institute tours, coffee & networking

Delegates will have the opportunity to visit the James Hutton Institute’s High-Throughput Phenotyping Platform, part of the Advanced Plant Growth Centre. The facility combines highly controlled growing environments with advanced plant imaging technologies, including RGB, hyperspectral, chlorophyll fluorescence and 3D imaging. It enables researchers and industry partners to evaluate crop responses to different genetics, crop protection products, biologicals, nutrients and environmental stresses under tightly controlled conditions, generating detailed data on plant performance over time.
