This 3-day hands-on training course is designed for professionals and researchers looking to develop expertise in downstream bioprocessing, covering key techniques such as Disc-stack Centrifugation, High-pressure Homogenization, Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF), and Chromatography. Participants will gain a strong theoretical foundation along with practical experience in operating industry-relevant equipment, optimizing process parameters, and troubleshooting common challenges.
The course includes lectures, practical demonstrations, and hands-on exercises hosted by the Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC). By the end of the training, attendees will have the skills and confidence to apply downstream processing techniques in real-world bioprocessing applications. A certificate of completion will be awarded upon successful participation.
Learning outcomes
Understand key downstream processing techniques: Disc Stack Centrifugation, High-pressure Homogenization, Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) and Chromatography
Gain hands-on experience in operating lab-scale equipment for each downstream processing technique and learn how to optimize key process parameters.
Learn Chromatography principles and best practices for column packing, sample loading, and gradient elution for effective purification of target molecules.
Develop skills in monitoring and analyzing process performance through real-time data collection, SDS-PAGE analysis, and protein quantification.
Who will benefit?
Scientists, engineers, graduates, technical managers and operators, especially those in their early careers in downstream bioprocessing
Anyone who would like to start using downstream processing equipment or wants to gain an understanding of the theory behind downstream processing techniques
