About the event
Seaweed is a naturally occurring bio-feedstock that has been used in the UK for thousands of years. The processing of seaweed can produce a wide variety of products, including soil improver, animal feed and high value chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
But while interest is surging, access to seaweed raw materials in the UK remains limited, forcing many companies to look abroad for supply. This raises important questions about scalability, sustainability, and the future of seaweed processing in UK. Join Innovate UK as they explore the potential of seaweed, the barriers to UK production, and the opportunities for collaboration, to strengthen and grow the UK seaweed industry.
Find out about Innovate UK’s feasibility funding to support the UK’s seaweed processors to identify and trial, or develop, new processing approaches for seaweed.
This event will provide an opportunity to meet and learn from others across connected industries. It will also be an opportunity to help scope potential future support for this area.
