SRG are delighted to be partnering with a global, not‑for‑profit organisation at the forefront of health and environmental research, supporting them as they expand their busy laboratory team. We are recruiting a Laboratory Analyst with a background in mineralogy, including the analysis and testing of soil and/or asbestos.

The Role

  • Analysis of soil and mineral samples

  • Asbestos testing (full training can be provided)

  • Reporting and cross‑checking analytical results in line with laboratory procedures

  • Routine laboratory support, including housekeeping, equipment cleaning and maintenance

  • Troubleshooting and problem solving where required

  • Working in compliance with the company quality system, including ISO 17025 (UKAS accreditation)

  • Reviewing, checking and authorising reports produced by other Laboratory Analysts

About You

  • A relevant scientific degree, P401 or P403 qualification, or equivalent hands‑on experience in a similar laboratory environment.

  • Experience using techniques such as FTIR, XRD, gravimetric analysis, fibre counting, SEM/EDXA and/or asbestos testing

  • A background in mineralogy

  • Strong organisational and communication skills

  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast‑paced environment

  • Confident using Microsoft Office and laboratory databases

  • Punctual, reliable, with high personal standards

  • Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a small team

This role is suited to anyone working at SCQF level 4 and above and for a more senior role, SCQF level 6 and above.
