First Minister John Swinney Visits Ingenza to Highlight Scotland’s Economic Growth

Ingenza, a world-leading protein CRDMO were delighted to welcome Scotland’s First Minister, John Swinney, to its inGenius® Building where he chose to announce his legislative agenda for his Programme for Government. 

The First Minister spent time with Ingenza colleagues touring the state-of-the-art, multi-million-pound inGenius® Building, based at Edinburgh Technopole a prime site of the Pioneer Group. The inGenius® Facility is allowing the Scottish Biotech trailblazer to greatly increase capacity across all service areas, strengthening the company’s ability to deliver flexible, scalable biomanufacturing solutions to its growing customer base.

The First Minister described Ingenza as

“a company at the heart of Scotland’s economic possibilities and opportunities”

and he praised Ingenza as a

“highly sophisticated research organisation capable of tackling academic university research and translating it into commercial applications.”

Dr Ian Fotheringham MBE who met with the First Minister commented,

“It was wonderful to welcome Mr Swinney to Ingenza where we could show him first hand how we are accelerating the delivery of new therapeutics and reducing carbon emissions for our global customer base.”

The First Minister was particularly enthused to hear that Ingenza are a proud employer of Life Science Apprenticeships and have supported many employees from initial apprenticeships to further prestigious qualifications including doctorates. 

Sarah Scott, Head of Operations at Ingenza, discussed with The First Minister the importance of apprenticeships, saying,

Working closely with our partners at The Scottish Government and The Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC) has enabled us to accelerate the development of young people within our workforce and really propel their careers.”
