Luke Johnston
Luke joined IBioIC as Senior Upstream Bioprocessing Scientist at the FlexBIO scale-up facility in October 2024. In this role he develops and executes upstream bioprocessing projects in support of clients across academia and industry, in addition to delivering technical training programmes.
Prior to joining IBioIC, Luke undertook a PhD within the laboratory of Professor Karl Burgess at the University of Edinburgh in collaboration with FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies. This industry-led project was focused on the application of metabolomics tools to optimise Chinese Hamster Ovary cell bioprocesses.
Luke also holds a BSc (Hons) Microbiology from Glasgow Caledonian University and an MSc Industrial Biotechnology from the University of Strathclyde, where he was awarded the Catherine Baker Memorial Prize for best academic performance in his MSc cohort.
