Bioeconomy Week Scotland 2024

What is Bioeconomy Week Scotland 2024?

Bioeconomy Week Scotland 2024 is a week of events and activities devoted to celebrating the innovative, biobased, solutions being discovered and developed in Scotland.

What is the bioeconomy?

The bioeconomy is an important, and growing, part of Scotland’s economy. It uses natural resources and biological processes to improve the sustainability of all sorts of products from cosmetics and toiletries, to clothes, packaging, and building materials. It also supports the development of new therapeutics and medicines, finds innovative ways to use waste materials, and is contributing to lowering the carbon footprint of everything from food and drink to car batteries.

How to take part

Help us celebrate Bioeconomy Week Scotland by hosting your own event to tell the world about the part you’re playing in creating a greener and more sustainable world.

Everyone with an interest in the bioeconomy is welcome to submit an event or activity for inclusion in the Bioeconomy Week programme. We’ve suggested some ideas for inspiration in the downloadable Event Guide below, but submissions can be for any type of event, so feel free to be creative!

Download the Event Guide below for guidance notes and information about how to submit your event proposal, what support IBioIC will provide, and review process and timeline for approval and marketing of your event.

Please note: only approved events are entitled to identify themselves as #BioWeekScot24 events and use the Bioeconomy Week Scotland 2024 logo.

Bioeconomy Week 2024 will take place between 11 – 15 March 2024, to coincide with IBioIC’s 10th anniversary celebrations.
